How Much Is A Parcel Sent With City Link Couriers?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

citylinkprices How Much Is A Parcel Sent With City Link Couriers? The quick answer is that it’ll be cheaper sent via Parcel Monkey than other methods. But if you wanted a more detailed answer there should be a few things you need to know before you can get a price. They are:

  • How quickly you’d like the parcel delivered?
  • Does it have to be a morning or Saturday delivery?
  • When you would like it collected?
  • Where it’s going, i.e. Northern Ireland or locally via our same day service?
  • It’s dimensions – we have a special rate for small items which can go into a mailing bag.
  • What compensation level you’d like?

Those questions may seem excessive, but if we get an opportunity to offer lower costs because your parcel is light or is ok to be delivered before the close of business the next day then we’ll pass those savings on to you.

Before you do a courier quote, have a think about if any of these services are relevant to you:

  • Small items the next day
  • A normal delivery the next day
  • A 12 noon service
  • A before 9am service
  • Delivery before 1pm on a Saturday
  • If you’d need a guaranteed next day service
  • If it’s going beyond the mainland such as Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands or the Isle of Wight.

Or you could simply just have the dimensions of your parcel ready and a price in mind and get the speediest service for that price. What we do know is that we offer incredibly cheap prices.

Parcelforce Charges, Express Fees & Costs

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

parcelforce1 Parcelforce Charges, Express Fees & CostsSome people contact us asking about the charges, costs and fees for sending parcels via Parcelforce. Obviously there are a number of factors in play before we can give a definitive answer. Of course if you had your parcel ready it would just be a case of measuring the width, length and depth; weighing it and then adding those details to the quotes form. But if you’re just after indicative pricing ahead of packing up the items you would like to send via courier, then here is some summary information.

Firstly you should establish whether you’d like your parcel to be delivered the next day or the day after. This determines if you should choose the Parcelforce 24 or Parcelforce 48 services.

Our prices start at £11.99+vat for the Parcelforce24 and £10.99+vat for the Parcelforce48 services where the parcel is 1kg and 10cm cubed. Even at 10kg and 50cm cubed you’re paying the same low rate. And even at 20kg for the 50cm then you’re still paying that ridiculously low rate.

There are some restrictions on the dimensions:

  • Individual parcel limit 30kg but no maximum consignment weight
  • Maximum parcel length 1.5m and 3m maximum length and girth combined

Also note that delivery into Zone 3 is normally a day or two longer than Zones 1 and 2 (check the Parcelforce website for the latest details).

Small Package Courier Services

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

jiffybag Small Package Courier ServicesSo many courier companies focus on solving people’s large parcel delivery needs, but there is a growing community of people wishing to send small items that just don’t want to pay the same sort of prices that you’d expect to pay for large, bulky courier collections. And that’s why we launched a small package delivery service where items that are small enough to fit into a 50cm x 40cm “jiffy bag” can be collected and delivered at a reduced price – currently that’s just £4.85+vat.

We know it’s a really low price, but the service is proving to be a big hit – especially for those looking for business couriers to help with regular shipments. Our small business and corporate customers love the flexibility of using their own mailing and jiffy bags and simply attaching a printed delivery label and having a courier collect a good number of the packages at the same time. That’s not to say that households or those who sell their second-hand items on eBay can’t use the site, as you can – you just need to make sure that you use a proper envelope / bag which is fit for the purpose – simply using a plastic bag won’t protect your items.

You’re probably thinking that this small package service can’t be delivered next day for £4.85+vat and have it collected too. Well that’s exactly what this service does. We do offer great value for money don’t we?

If you’re interested in booking this low cost service, you can if your parcel qualifies after you have added its dimensions to the quote form. It’ll be the top-most option at the top of the subsequent page. Or you could choose a boxed rate if you don’t have a mailing or jiffy bag handy.

What’s The Best Courier For Shipping A Guitar?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Three guitars and casesNot until we saw Not_the_DJ post about how they’ve used us to send guitars via us did we realise how many we help be shipped across the country, and occasionally into Europe and beyond.

As you can imagine, Guitars are often people’s pride and joy, but as Not_the_DJ points out, they should be packaged properly. We’ve put together some packaging tips to help, but in terms of the best courier to ship a guitar, that really depends on the size of the guitar and where you’re sending it. Domestically you can send via City Link, ParcelForce and Nightfreight. Whilst if you’d like to ship a guitar to Europe and further then we currently offer a DHL service (and a great new courier company coming soon).

Because we offer a range of couriers and delivery options, the most appropriate may be different each time you send one. Taking a standard ‘Fender’ style guitar case as a base you’re looking at a length of about 110cm, a width of about 40cm, a depth of 30cm and a weight of around 14kg you could (at today’s prices) get a:

  • next day delivery for just £7.44+vat with City Link.
  • if you’d like that also by 6pm the next day but with a money back guarantee that would be £10.80+vat.
  • also with City Link you have a range of other delivery times such as before 9am, before noon and on Saturday.
  • for a same day collection service which you need to book by 10:30am that day it would be just £8.37+vat.
  • for those of you who prefer to use Parcelforce you could use Parcelforce 24 for £11.99+vat or Parcelforce 48 for £10.99.
  • and as another option, for those of you who prefer Nightfreight this would be for £20.49.

Choosing a courier to send a guitar isn’t as complicated as it may appear. You just add the correct dimensions to the courier quote form, choose the delivery country, and then just choose the level of service or how long the delivery should take and it’s as simple as that.
