9am Courier Collection

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

sameday 9am Courier CollectionYou may be asking if you can specify a time for a parcel to be collected? Well, of course you can.

Let’s say you work night shifts and you get back home for about 8:30 and you’re still going to be awake whilst you unwind from a hectic evening working away, but you need to send some parcels, perhaps for Christmas or birthdays to loved ones? Normally it’d be a case of stopping off on your way home and braving the rush-hour traffic and the queues to send your parcel at the Post Office. It might even be raining, and parking could be difficultt …

… but life doesn’t have to be that way.

If sending a parcel by same day delivery is ok with you, and why shouldn’t it be with prices from £5.60, then you can specify a 15 minute time slot for your parcel to be collected – how convenient is that? You wait in, possibly with a cup of tea and slippers and just wait for that friendly knock on the door.

Man With A Van In London & Beyond

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Do you sometimes need a man with a van to move items across your city (perhaps its London?) or from one end of the UK to another? Perhaps you’re moving home, going to university or moving offices? Well we’ve launched a new service that can handle items up to a staggering 1000kg in weight and with a maximum length of 2.5m in a LWB (Long Wheel Base) van. That all sounds technical, but it’s really very simple. We’ll show you below how it’ll only take about 30 seconds to get a price and your parcels/furniture/equipment – all booked up.

The great thing about this service is that you can have a collection made within just 60 minutes of you booking your collection and delivery. I also love the fact that we can give you an estimated time of arrival which should help you organise people at the receiving end to be ready to take collection of your parcels.

Of course it’s all down to price. So here are a few prices that will hopefully show the value of this new service:

Short Journey – 4 miles from our office to Southampton Football Club

sameday11 Man With A Van In London & Beyond

So that’s just £13.20+vat for a normal, small van for items up to 500kg in total weight and no parcels over 1.2 in weight. If you’re sending more then it won’t cost too much more. For double the weight and parcels up to 1.6m in length it’ll only cost £22.00+vat and if you’re looking for a lot of heavy parcels to be collected and delivered then it’s just £27.50+vat.

Across London: 36 miles from Gatwick Airport to Brent Cross Shopping Centre

sameday2 Man With A Van In London & BeyondI think you’ll agree that these prices to send a parcel across London on the same day as collection is very cheap?

Longer journey: From Wimbledon to Birmingham

sameday3 Man With A Van In London & Beyond

So we’ll collect your parcel / items (from the Wimbledon Tennis LTA building) at 08:30 on Thursday and expect to deliver them to Birmingham NEC at 11:21 the same day – all for £114.30+vat which we think is excellent value for money.

Have a look at the prices for our same day parcel delivery service and tell us what you think.

If you can’t get online to make your booking you can call City Link direct on 02476 308 336 where one of the customer services team will take your booking and payment over the phone. Using this service you can be sure your items get their own dedicated driver and vehicle, are fully insured and gets to its intended destination  securely.

What’s The Best Courier For Shipping A Guitar?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Three guitars and casesNot until we saw Not_the_DJ post about how they’ve used us to send guitars via us did we realise how many we help be shipped across the country, and occasionally into Europe and beyond.

As you can imagine, Guitars are often people’s pride and joy, but as Not_the_DJ points out, they should be packaged properly. We’ve put together some packaging tips to help, but in terms of the best courier to ship a guitar, that really depends on the size of the guitar and where you’re sending it. Domestically you can send via City Link, ParcelForce and Nightfreight. Whilst if you’d like to ship a guitar to Europe and further then we currently offer a DHL service (and a great new courier company coming soon).

Because we offer a range of couriers and delivery options, the most appropriate may be different each time you send one. Taking a standard ‘Fender’ style guitar case as a base you’re looking at a length of about 110cm, a width of about 40cm, a depth of 30cm and a weight of around 14kg you could (at today’s prices) get a:

  • next day delivery for just £7.44+vat with City Link.
  • if you’d like that also by 6pm the next day but with a money back guarantee that would be £10.80+vat.
  • also with City Link you have a range of other delivery times such as before 9am, before noon and on Saturday.
  • for a same day collection service which you need to book by 10:30am that day it would be just £8.37+vat.
  • for those of you who prefer to use Parcelforce you could use Parcelforce 24 for £11.99+vat or Parcelforce 48 for £10.99.
  • and as another option, for those of you who prefer Nightfreight this would be for £20.49.

Choosing a courier to send a guitar isn’t as complicated as it may appear. You just add the correct dimensions to the courier quote form, choose the delivery country, and then just choose the level of service or how long the delivery should take and it’s as simple as that.
