10 Top Tips: Getting Your Parcel Sent To The Right Address

Friday, February 26th, 2010

International Parcel Courier ImageWe read recently about the problems a customer of a competing service has had allegedly because the competitor’s website didn’t ask the user to check the address they wanted the parcel to go to correctly and also defaulted to “Austria” if no country was selected (the complainant refutes this charge). That’s just plain daft!

If the list of available countries included Afghanistan, then the parcel could have ended up there and been a whole lot harder to return than Austria.

We expect that our order forms are easy and intuitive to use, however, we’ll give them another going over to try and minimise problems caused with incorrect information being added. But here are some tips to help us, or any courier company, to get your parcel to the right location:

  1. Have the address you want to send your parcel to written down and next to you throughout the whole process.
  2. Try not to be in a hurry when placing your order.
  3. Take your time.
  4. Read every word of the form and instructions closely
  5. Before you submit each part of the form, rescan it to double check the information – this includes the parcel dimensions, level of service, such as next day, to Europe; and of course, the address.
  6. Place your order after you’ve run through again in your head that you know where the parcel is going to and you’ve chosen the suitable level of service as its easier to change things before you’ve submitted your order.
  7. Check all the details on the confirmation email. We make things very easy to read. You’ll have all relevant information including the value of the goods, dimensions, the collection date, collection address, pickup point, the contents of the parcel, any additional notes for the courier, your contact information, the delivery address and the details of the recipient.
  8. If you’ve spotted us then feel free to drop as a line to change the order.
  9. Keep an eye on your order with the parcel tracking tools on our partners’ sites.
  10. Keep your cool if things go wrong. We and our partners work hard to make sure that your parcel gets to its destination, on time and in perfect condition. Occasionally things go wrong but we’ll work towards resolving any issues – it may take a bit of time to chase all concerned.

We hope that helps you make sure that your parcel gets to where it should get to.

How Do You Calculate Courier Volumes?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

We try and solve as many of your questions on the blog here so it saves you time trying to contact us to get answers as typically if you’ve got to arrange the delivery of a parcel or its collection then you need to get all the information necessary – now. So here’s today’s question we’re answering:

How Do You Calculate Courier Volumes?

Well, you’ve probably been to a courier company’s website and read something about you being charged dependent on your parcel’s volumetric weight. And now you’re sat there wondering if you’re going to be charged an exorbitant amount for a relatively small and light parcel. But worry not, we do all the calculations for you.

If you’re away from the computer then you can work it out by (length (cm) x width (c) x height (cm) ) / 5000.

But you don’t have to worry about that as we do all the leg work for you. On our courier quotes page you will see a box like this:

Volumetric weight calculator for parcel delivery

This form allows you to put the details of the parcel you’d like to send in and we’ll work out the volumetric weight and the best prices available for you. We even convert the numbers for you if you prefer to use inches and pounds or inches and kilograms.

It’s as simple as that. You just need to decide if you’d like your parcel being delivered next day, economy, before 9am the next day or on a Saturday.

How To Choose A Courier Service For A Laptop

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

How to post a laptopOn the simplest level, it is most important that you choose a courier that offers a reliable service. Of course at Parcel Monkey we offer that. But there’s some things to think about when you prepare the laptop for courier collection:

  • Make sure you’ve secured all parts of the laptop properly, this includes the battery (which should be run down), power cables, charger, mouse etc.
  • Consider placing a section of bubble wrap between the keyboard and the screen just in case.
  • Wrap the laptop tightly in bubble wrap or other suitable packaging.
  • Ensure the laptop is not able to move around the box it’s contained in. Even small netbooks should be packaged in a sturdy box. Do not even consider sending them in a jiffy bag.
  • Make sure you’ve got all the delivery details together and printed a suitable delivery address.
  • Write down all the model numbers and serial numbers just in case you need them.
  • Make sure you know that you can’t send wet or lithium batteries through our system.

Most of all, don’t stress about it, we’re professionals.

NB: We can send laptops for you, but on a no-compensation basis. Please check our prohibited items list.

How To Choose A Courier To Deliver Items From eBay Auctions?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Cheap Ebay CouriersAfter you’ve won your item then you can arrange for collection with the seller. Our courier companies offer parcel collection services so all you need to make sure is that the seller will be available to hand over the item which has been correctly addressed and securely packaged. The courier will then deliver the item to you in the specified time; next day before 6pm, the 3-4 day delivery service, next day before 9am or via a Saturday delivery service.

The most important factor here is the flexibility to collect a variety of parcels in terms of sizes and weights. Having one courier service that you rely on and can handle all your requirements is paramount.

eBay sellers should also think of this factor as the speed and ease at which you get the item to the seller will have an impact on your eBay rating and your likelihood of making future sales.

If you’re a regular buyer or seller then contact us and we may be able to lower your parcel delivery prices further – they’re already very low!
